all about steam.com

Steam.com, a timeline

The PC gaming webstore, steam, has been a staple of pc gaming for over 17 years, sense it came out bundled with halflife 2. almost everyone who has ever had any interest in pc gaming, or any form of gaming for that matter, has found themselves at steampowered.com at some point in time... but wait! steampowered.com. why? why does valve, a multibillion $ company, not acquire the domain steam.com. interested in this myself, I launched a investigation of my own, diving into the history of this domain.

Registration

steam.com was registered 1994-07-13.

The first snapshot

The first known screenshot, captured in 1996, appers to be a web consulting company. that would explain the fact that steam acts as a DNS server for many wierd unrelated websites. source: https://who.is/nameserver/NS.STEAM.COM

http://web.archive.org/web/19961227144652/http://www.steam.com/

404! thats a error

Dec 22 1977 steam.com turns into a 404 page of sorts, linking to some of their clients. it is then updated to have a fancy tunnel background one month later.

The Fold

Feb 13, 1988, steam.com is updated again to formally announce their closure.

<img src="https://e.reeee.ee/uj66Wf.png" style="zoom: 50%;" />

Rip steam tunnel operations.

but wait! cliff seems conflicted. the page is quickly changed back to a 404 page resembling the old one with a few minor changes to wording, before going back to the former home page.

Then they open again! but this time with their old home page, from way back when they opened. steam tunnel is back!

<img src="https://e.reeee.ee/8TP8kx.png" style="zoom:50%;" />

Unfortunatly, in Sep 28, 2002, The page went white, and steam tunnel was to never return. cliff added back the former home "we are closed" message on May 19, 2004, 250 days after steam opened their doors. cliff notably left out his email in the message, as perhaps valve had already reached out to him previously. cliff was at least aware of his domains value, as he felt the need to revisit steam.com to add "This domain is not for sale." to the bottom of the page.

The domain would remain largely the same, save for the removal of the foreground image, until jan 19 2011 when he inverted the background image to make it light-colored.

Then the lights went out

Oct 22, 2016, the way back machine made its final archive. afterward, the site just poofed. nothing. one can speculate two things. that the site got new owners, or that cliff got tired o

Is .so TLD worth it?

Hi,

I'm looking forward to register a domain with .so as TLD. Why I'm looking for .so instead of .com is due to the reason that I could make it pretty much look like the website's name.

It says here on the Wikipedia link that .so doesn't provide IDN and DNSSEC. When I searched I saw that no IDN will restrict domain name to ASCII only which is totally fine by me. However, I'm confused about having no DNSSEC. What are your thoughts?

If Scotland ganinedits independence, what would its domain code be?

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Internet_top-level_domains for reference.

all domain codes from .sc on .sl to .sd are taken, and country domain codes can't be more than two letters. To circumvent this, one could move from the word Scotland to Alba instead. .al is take by albania but .ab is still free.

Is there a better way to do this? TypeError: Python, Beautiful Soup.
import requests

page = requests.get('https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Internet_top-level_domains')

table = soup.findAll('table')[6]
for record in table.findAll('tr'):

        for link in data.select("a[href^='/wiki/.']"):
            links = link.contents[0]
            print(links)

I would like to grab from more than one table, however as I am still new and learning how to program I haven't the foggiest idea how to do that. I keep getting the following error.

> > Traceback (most recent call last): > > File "/run/media/sean/The Continuum/Python/wikinamelist.py", line 7, in <module> > > table_data = soup.find_all('table')[6, 7]; > > TypeError: list indices must be integers or slices, not tuple

Is there something I am missing? I feel like this should work.

Clever Steins;Gate web address

So, I was scrolling through a list of internet top-level domains and I saw that ".observer" actually exists. I was already considering making my own Steins;Gate fan site and I wanted to buy the address "skyclad.observer". I was thinking of having it redirect to a YouTube upload of the Steins;Gate VN OP, but it turns out someone's already done it! Click on the link above and see for yourself.

Can't use MORMON anymore? The LDS has a problem, then:

You can go here and find all the top level domain codes:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Internet_top-level_domains

and type mormon. and then add one or more. Many of them work. For example:

mormon.org takes you to mormon.org

mormon.com takes you to mormon.org

mormon.net takes you to mormon.org

.int, .gov, .edu, and .mil, do not work, for example.

mormon.de refers you to a more specific and country-specific or language-specific page

mormon.fr refers you to a more specific and country-specific or language-specific page

mormon.mx refers you to a more specific and country-specific or language-specific page

mormon.ca takes you to mormon.org

Mormon. still. works.

REQ: Integrate resolution of OpenNIC domains (Emercoin, Namecoin, NewNations)

I realize this is already an option as an extension, but fallback decentralized and non-authoritarian name resolution seems to fit nicely into the Brave Browsers core values.

For those unfamiliar with the technical details, current site name to IP translations (google.com -> 216.58.193.132) are controlled by ICANN, an international nonprofit that has come under criticism for not recognizing Tibet or Taiwan as sovereign nations, and as such, not granting them a top level domain. The authoritarian model has also been criticised as highly censorable since centralized governments or corporations can deregister any domain whose speech they find offensive.

In an attempt to make these decisions less centralized and authoritarian, alternative DNS roots have sprung up. OpenNIC is one of a few of these that peer with groups like NewNations, Emercoin and Namecoin to provide for nations whos status is in political dispute as well as to provide censorproof name resolution for organizations that do not want to have their name resolution centralized.

How to Easily Create Your Own Free URL Shortener

A short URL is easier to remember, easier to share and easier to use. It’s a win for everyone!

Brands like Verizon Wireless (vz.to), RE/MAX (rem.ax) and Reddit (redd.it) have taken this one step further by using a clever and shorter domain (called a vanity URL) that is very similar to their brand name.

Bitly’s enterprise version offers you to use your own vanity domain like The New York Times’ nyti.ms. According to this Quora answer, the enterprise version of Bitly costs around $995/month.

Here's how you can do it for free (almost). It requires a little technical knowledge though.

  • STEP 1: BUY A VANITY DOMAIN.

In our example, we owned Prerto.com for the Prerto brand. We bought Prer.to from the Toronto domain registry. We paid $45 for a year in domain fees. Domain fees for countries vary significantly. For example, Puerto Rico’s (.pr) extension costs $1,000/year!

To find a suitable vanity domain, you can see all the available domain endings in this Wikipedia article or use Domainr to quickly find appropriate and available short URLs for your existing brand/niche.

  • STEP 2: FIND A HOSTING SERVICE

Something that can host a simple WordPress blog will be sufficient. If you’re planning to use this for your own brand, then you can make do with a shared server. VPS like DigitalOcean is also a good option but that requires a little more technical knowledge. This can cost between $5-10/month.

  • STEP 3: INSTALL YOURLS

YOURLS (Your Own URL Service) is free to use, an open source option that provides analytics and allows you to customize the URL.

Follow the installation instructions.

  • Unzip the YOURLS archive

  • Copy user/config-sample.php to user/config.php

  • Open user/config.php with a raw text editor (like Notepad) and fill in the required settings

  • Upload the unzipped files to your domain public_html or www folder

  • Create a new database (see Configuration – you can also use an existing one)

  • Point your browser to http://your-own-domain-here.com/admin/

  • Now you’re all done. You’ve successfully created your own vanity URL shortener.

[PSA] A list of all malicious domains circulating the PM system
  • '.me' - This is a website from Montenegro

  • '.yu' - Yugoslavia

  • '.co' - Columbia

  • '.us' - United States (but most domain registration services don't immediately offer it)

  • '.su' - Soviet Union (Soviet Union was disbanded in 1991, but it still remains)

  • '.ga' - Special domain given out by Gabon Telecom

  • '.pl' - Poland

  • '.de' - Germany

  • NEW '.pw' - Palau

  • ##| .tk | - This is the big one. TK is a free service hosted from New Zealand that allows anyone to register a free domain name. Hosting is an entirely different service (of course), but not impossible. If you see an unknown .TK website, do not go to it.

Most country code top-level domains are not (or can not) be parsed by ROBLOX's blacklisting algorithm for multiple reasons. Wikipedia has an article listing all top-level domains; the list of Country Code domains (the ones in use) can be found here.

Do not use this list as a substitute for common sense. This is only a "DO NOT GO HERE AT ANY TIME" list. Your own judgement also has to be used. I see many people, every day, who want donations or are sad because their accounts were hacked. ROBLOX uses HTTPS, which is nearly impossible to directly intercept using only network tools. If your account was "hacked" they somehow installed malicious software onto your computer.

Do not follow links. Make yourself aware. Stay safe.

EDIT: /u/McMrChip has a really good comment, read that too.

There are mormon-themed web domain names available that could be put to good use

Long story short, you can buy domain names (.coms and whatnot) on registrars like NameCheap.com. In the past few years many new so-called "generic" Top-Level Domains (TLDs) have been introduced, like .xyz, .club, .website, .guitars, .press, and many, many more.

Because of this, there are quite a few variants of mormon terminology that are cheap I think that it would be fantastic to purchase some of these domains and compile important information on LDS Inc. Some of the really juicy ones (which are 91$) are things like mormon.financial and lds.financial, which could be used to inform people of the corporate structure and financial procedures of the organization. If members of the ex-mormon community owned any of these sites, then it might be possible to provide a wider, healthier perspective from inside and out of the mormon religion and effect change.

I just thought I'd float this out here, and provide a few relevant searches for anyone who's interested. These domains are abundant and cost less than a dollar if you would like to use one for a blog, non-profit, etc.

LMT: A Deep Dive

Edit 1: More ARKQ buying today (~50k shares). Thank you everyone for the positive feedback and discussion!

Bottom Line Up Front (BLUF) or TL;DR for the non-military types:

LMT is a good target if you want to literally go to the moon, and my PT is $690.26 in two years (more than 2x from current levels). Justification and some possible trade ideas are listed below, just CTRL-F “Trade Ideas”. I hope you guys enjoy this work and would appreciate any discussion or feedback. I hope to catch you in the comments.

Team,

We interrupt today’s regularly scheduled short squeeze coverage to discuss a traditionally boring stock, LMT (Lockheed Martin), with significant upside potential. To be clear, this is NOT a short squeeze target like many reddit posts are keying on. I hope that this piece sparks discussion, but if you are just looking for short squeeze content, all I have to say is BUY, HOLD, and GODSPEED.

The source of inspiration for me writing this piece is threefold; first, retail investors are winning, and I believe that we will continue to win if we continue to identify opportunities in the market. In my view, the stock market has always been a place for the public to shine a light on areas of innovation that real Americans are excited about and proud to be a part of. Online communities have stolen the loudspeaker from hedge fund managers and returned it to decentralized online democracies that quickly and proudly shift their weight behind ideas they believe in. In GME’s case, it was a blatant smear campaign to destroy a struggling business. I think that we should continue this campaign by identifying opportunities in the market and running with them. It may sound overly idealistic, but if reddit can take on the hedge funds, I non-ironically believe that we can quite literally take good companies researching space technology to the moon. I think LMT may be one of several stocks to help get us there.

Second, a video where the Secretary of State of Massachusetts argues that internet boards are full of a bunch of unsophisticated, thoughtless traders really ticked me off. This piece is designed to show that ‘the little guy’ is ready to get into the weeds, understand business plans, and outpace analysts that think companies like Tesla are overvalued by comparing them to Toyota. That is a big reason that I settled on an old, large, slow growth company to do a deep-dive on, and try my best to show some of the abysmal predictive analysis major ‘research firms’ d

100% FOSS Smartphone Hardening non-root Guide 3.0 (for normal people) ft. some advanced tricks

#NOTE: Moderators told me to remove some parts of guide, so some portions are REDACTED.

[REDACTED]

#NOTE: I will NOT respond to prejudiced and political trolls.

Hello! I am the founder of r/privatelife. I am back with the third version of the guide I started last year with the aim of getting nearly top grade levels of privacy in the hands (pun intended) of all smartphone users, focused on steps that normal, average people with basic tech knowledge can apply.

This version of the guide is fundamentally an incremental improvement, so some parts of the guide may seem copy pasted, but they are supposed to be that way for obvious reasons.

A kind request to share this guide to any privacy seeker.

#User and device requirement

  • ANY Android 9+ device (Android 10+ recommended for better security)
  • knowledge of how to copy-paste commands in Linux or Mac Terminal/MS-DOS Command Prompt (for ADB, it is very simple, trust me)
  • For intermediate tech users: typing some URLs and saving them in a text file

#What brings this third iteration? Was the previous guide not good enough?

No, it was not. There is always room for improvement, and it has been 6 months since the last edit I made in the 2.0 guide. The new changes warranted a new version of the guide, as lot of things changed. If I simply made the edit in previous one, people would have skimmed, glossed over or not noticed.

A basic summary of new additions to the 2.0 guide:

  • A better photo collage of and how to create a DIY camera cover for notched phones
  • introducing an app that locally shows history about lock screen, permissions, 3.5 jack plug and camera/mic access, thus replacing "Privacy Indicators" app
  • how to block trackers for any app in the future using an app/database called Exodus
  • how to get KDE Connect working for your phone to connect to computer, to avoid using SHAREit, AirDroid and such programs
  • how to debloat Work user profile in Android, which is separate from the main admin user profile we use
  • how to be able to use two VPNs or firewalls on a non root device for ultimate compartmentalisation
  • utilising Android/AOSP's VPN Always-on Lockdown traffic feature on VPNs/firewalls to prevent any packet leakage
  • a quick note on how I set up and use WhatsApp to mitigate effects of its [horrible privacy policy](https://old.reddit.com/r/privatelife/comments/krr7gf/writeup_dissecti

Why was there a Shaman at the Capitol Hill riot? Understanding the Mystical, Esoteric, Artistic and Post-Modernist elements of the Q Conspiricies online disinformation machine.

So, I never thought this was going to get this long but here it is, I ended up doing a roughly 5500-word writeup of the mystical and esoteric contingent of the Qanon conspiracy group.

Unfortunately it goes way into the comments, but heres a text link https://textuploader.com/18uou

If you want to dive right in the conclusions go ahead, but I’d really appreciate people reading though. It’s a very nuanced topic and I think taking these people seriously and attempting to understand their methods will do us better that just saying “lol they think memes are magic”.

__________________________________________________________________________________

1- Intro

The shaman at capitol hill has a lot more meaning to it that may first meet the eye. After recently doing research on various Q anon conspiracy related sites I’ve compiled a series of screenshots and website captures that prove the online tactics employed by many Qanon activists have been directly taken from the world of new age mysticisms, magic, postmodern art and the social theory of memetics.

I also would like to note that I will *not* be covering anything to do with the well documented Q conspiracy beliefs about global paedophile rings, blood rituals, pizza gate etc. This is mainly a discussion of the history, philosophy and impetus behind the seemingly grass root level internet disinformation campaigns and right wing "meme machines".

It may all sound a bit crazy and it is, but everything here I’ve directly taken from popular Q websites and image boards, primarily 8chan/8kun, but this really is what seemingly many people practice and believe, with certain people seeming more cynical in their beliefs. However as has always been the case with chan forums - it's very hard to tell someone’s real identi

Banks are a scam to get your money

Sorry, for the clickbaity title, again! This is a serious post. A long one at that.

So, I was sitting eating Maggi which is my de-facto lunch on Sundays and decided that I would pen my next DD today. I had a few companies in mind I wanted to write about and decided to go ahead with IDFC First Bank.

For those who are reading my DD for the first time, do visit my previous posts about my approach. Tldr is that I get down into the weeds and look for reasons to not invest in company rather than look for reason to invest in a company. I don’t trust management, credit rating agencies or the independent auditor’s report. As you might have guessed I am a paranoid SoB.

Disclaimer: I have conflict of interest in this post as I own shares of this company. Do not misconstrue this post as investment advice. Objective is to have a good conversation, that’s all. I don’t take advice from strangers on the internet and you shouldn’t either.

Background

IDFC First Bank (IFB) was founded in Dec, 2018 with the merger of IDFC Bank and Capital First. To understand them separately would take time. And as I will talk later, IFB does an exceptional job of communicating stuff about them, so here are the details:

IDFC & Capital First

The Basic story is that IDFC Ltd. was a finance company in the beginning. They focused on financing wholesale projects specially in infrastructure domain. In 2008, they acquired an Asset Management Business and got into the AMC business. Later on, they separated their AMC and banking business and got license from RBI to launch IDFC Bank in 2015. The infrastructure financing business was getting touch, a precursor to the bad loan shitshow we are seeing today and so they were looking to get into retail loan side.

The basic story of Capital First is that Mr. V. Vaidyanathan after extensive experience in finance industry started an entrepreneurial venture for retail financing and acquired a small NBFC and formed Capital First. They grew substantially but to get explosive, next-level growth, they were looking for capital and reach.

Based on their common needs (Synergy in biz lingo), they decided to merge and become a retail focused bank IDFC + Capital First = IDFC First Bank.

Context

As I said earlier, I am a paranoid SoB and therefore I don’t generally inve

After many months of closed beta testing, MYbloXX for iOS is now officially available to the general public! You may have seen it mentioned here and there on r/jailbreak but official release was delayed due to my Dad's on-going battle with Coronavirus. Apologies for the delay but today is the day!

What makes MYbloXX for iOS better than the alternatives?

AUTO-UPDATING

BETTER BATTERY LIFE

FASTER BROWSING

INTEGRATED POP-UP/REDIRECT BLOCKER

NO FILESYSTEM MODIFICATIONS

The problem with alternate ad-blocking tweaks is that they rely on hosts file modifications to block ads... Not only is this static, requiring constant manual additions to the file and pushes of package updates (rarely done) but it also takes a toll on your download/upload speed... The more rules in the hosts file, the longer it takes to render pages. This method also requires additional tweaks (LetMeBlock and mDNSrestart) to allow mDNSresponder’s use of the hosts file. This is also a strain on system daemons which causes a significant amount of battery drain, especially if mDNSresponder goes haywire, which it’s known to do.

That’s where MYbloXX for iOS comes in!

Security is a top priority for everybody... MYbloXX for iOS is no different. This uses absolutely no third-party servers to re-route your traffic, unlike ffapple and other third-party DNS/Ad blocking App Store apps. They claim to not do so but how do we REALLY know that? MYbloXX for iOS is different: All

9 Reasons to be Super-Bullish on Fastly

Disclaimer: Due to no-image limitation and 40k words limitation in reddit, some contents were removed and please refer original content on my blog or on medium.

Fastly helps internet-enabled enterprise to deliver faster, more powerful sites and applications on secure, programmable edge cloud platform.

Fastly Investment Research Summary

  • Dozen of Mega-trends are enabling next generation of internet usage behaviour and have more than enough Edge Compute+CDN’s Total Addressable Market (TAM) of approximately $72 billion on the back of approximately $4 billion of revenue collectively captured by 3 CDN leaders — Akamai, Cloudflare & Fastly.
  • Make no mistake, both CDN and edge computing is a commodity business. Let’s repeat, CDN and edge computing is a commodity and will still be a commodity down the road while all CDN provider’s USP will be diminished in the long run. This indicates that no one clear player in the market will have a sustainable moat. Fastly’s only economic moat is about building up switching costs for the clients. Fastly’s customer acquisition strategy is more sustainable due to the nature of high switching cost.
  • Edge Computing is the tech buzzword now like how “Cloud Computing” is a buzzword in 2010. Edge Computing is definitely not a new technology but it’s buzzing due to driven demand of such need. It is also being buzzed due to the rise of IoT and 5G. CDN providers and public cloud vendors are also buzzing it now to capture the enterprise customers’ attention.
  • 7 other risks to be priced-in which might derail the investment thesis while complementing 2 wild cards or opportunities.
  • Valuation is suggesting a 64% upside over the next 24-month period.

Weak USP <=> Commodity offering

Both edge computing and CDN offerings are currently offered by Amazon’s [email protected], Cloudflare’s Workers, Akamai’s EdgeWorkers, Microsoft’s Azure Edge Zones, IBM’s IBM Edge Application Manager, Limelight’s Edge Compute……. (and the list goes on…). Just to summarize, ALL public cloud providers and ALL CDN providers had already provided or soon to provide edge computing services.

[email protected] is not unique to Fastly and any unique features in [email protected] would definitely not be unique for long until competitors catch up.

Fastly’s share of the Internet is more than Akamai and almost the same as Amazon CloudFront but nowhere near to Cloudflare.

Army of Spies DApp Project on Cardano

Hi Everybody,
[Long post ahead. So read at your own peril. tl;dr for the project below.]

We are the people behind the Army of Spies DApp proposal currently in Catalyst Fund 3. We're longtime Cardano super fanatics. We're hoping that we're going to get really good feedback on our project in Catalyst. But, we also want to reach out to the rest of the Cardano Community who might not be actively perusing the projects in the Catalyst Fund 3.
Mods, please let me know if this somehow shouldn't be posted here.  Anyway, I'm going to post our proposal and plan below.  We would love any and all feedback that anyone could provide. Obviously, there are monetary grants involved in Catalyst. But, we are actually just as excited for our little project just to see the light of day after working on it for so long.
Our first draft of the whitepaper for this project was way back in Early 2018.  We've put a ton of thought and effort into it since then including many drafts of the smart contract which is currently in Marlowe. We are slowly learning as we go. We also know our little project has a long way still to progress. So, we'd love any and all feedback if people here would be willing to give it a look. Obviously, we're editing this and making changes as we go. So this is all subject to change and revision.

Army of Spies

“...but at the length truth will out.”

William Shakespeare, The Merchant of Venice

tl;dr

Army of Spies is a Cardano based non-fungible native token product that creates a compensated “Curator” role in a smart contract powered marketplace that brokers obscure, or difficult to acquire, information. Blockchain derived finality and permanence of Curator role ownership will drive decentralized market growth via the efforts of each newly minted Curator. Army of Spies ultimately serves a public good as a decentralized public blockchain-based approach to the efficient allocation of information resources and erasure of non-mandatory information asymmetries powered by crowdsourced and bounty-based information discovery. The obscure, or difficult to acquire, information addressed by Army of Spies typically falls outside the reach of traditional blockchain oracle providers.

18X Special Forces Pipeline Explained through SFAS - General Breakdown/Tips/Advice

I’m posting this because I’ve spent countless hours googling and looking at every forum possible to find out more about Special Forces (SF), selection (SFAS), the 18X pipeline, and everything related to Green Berets. I got a lot of helpful information from the internet and by talking with people already in SF that really prepared me for the pipeline. I’m only posting this because I want to be able to pass along this knowledge to others going down this route and hopefully answer questions that I wish I had answered when I was going through.

I am not posting this because I think I’ve made it - I passed SFAS and am now in the Q Course, so I’ve by no way made it. I am not posting this with the intent on helping people cheat the course (people typically call this “G2” or getting “intel” on the course). All of this information for SFAS is generic and people have posted more in other places online, but I’m not going to go into SFAS very much. Everything I’m passing along is already in the public domain.

I hope this information helps people prepare, train, and understand the SF pipeline up to SFAS. I’ll answer all questions in this public forum but probably won’t do individual/private messages.

I’m going to roughly break down my thoughts thematically and chronologically so it isn’t an enormous amount of rambling.

18X/REP63 Contract

All I wanted to do in the Army was go SF so I made that very clear to my recruiter. You have the power in that relationship with the recruiter - they can’t force you to sign a contract that you don’t want so make sure you stand up for yourself. If they say they don’t have any 18X contracts, then wait until they have it or talk to another recruiter in your area. DO NOT RELY ON PICKING IT UP IN OSUT (OSUT is basic training and infantry training combined) - we had zero people pick it up in our OSUT class. If this is what you want, then don’t leave your future up to chance. Be mature and advocate for yourself with your recruiter to get the contract you want and be willing to wait or go somewhere else to get it.

I’m very happy that I went the National Guard (NG) route. Not many people know about this route and always say they wish they did. The 18X/REP63 pipeline is exactly the same until you graduate and go to your SF group - Active Duty (AD) guys will go to their active duty group and NG guys will go back to their state. I ultimately chose the NG route because there was a unit in my home state and it would allow me flexibili

One Comprehensive List of YouTube Music Frustrations

I've been watching YouTube Music threads here, and done my share of complaining. But I wanted to create and track a comprehensive list of everyone's frustrations.

I've written down my own and those I recall seeing here. If you have any to add, or if I'm wrong about any of these, let me know (and specify if it happens in Browser, App or both if you can). I will update this post.

1. General UI/UX

a. Uploads are hidden in separate drop-downs, making anyone who solely listens to uploaded music a second-class citizen and requires extensive menu navigation to access uploaded music at all. As noted, it takes four clicks just to get to your uploads, e.g. Library > Songs > Drop down > Uploads. It also doesn't save your last setting, ensuring maximum frustration. (thanks, OverKy & Dragon911X) (Browser/App)

b. Library is a tab, but it confusingly doesn’t mean uploads - uploads are hidden in a drop down. (Browser/App)

c. No Album sub-listing for artists in uploaded music. “Albums” as a top-level alphabetical tab by album name is nearly worthless, since most people (and competing apps, and GPM) organize by artist before album. (Browser/App)

d. Similarly hidden search for uploaded artists or songs, kept separate. Initial results confusingly only return Youtube videos. (Browser/App)

e. YTM landing page & app startup screen is full of unhelpful, unwanted information such as recommended music videos, artist pages, location-based recommendations, and is a barrier to accessing music. (Browser/App)

f. Search results have “Add to Library” for albums and tracks already in library, and it’s not clear if this will overwrite existing uploads. (Browser/App)

g. Android Auto head unit interface is terrible. (thanks, yottabit42) (App)

h. "In My Library" within each artist doesn't prioritize uploaded/liked content; don't want to scroll through dozens of albums to see the albums I like. (thanks, nerveworm) (Browser/App)

i. No Genre sorting or tab (thanks, Uncle-Eevee) (Browser/App)

j. No "last added" auto list for uploads. (thanks, CoogleGhrome) (Browser/App)

k. Artist names sometimes not present in search results. (thanks, Dio-V) (Browser/App)

l. Thumbs Up/Down are reversed from GPM UI. (thanks, stealthgyro) (Browser/App)

m. No swiping left/right to go to the next/last song. (daveyjones0017 however reports that this works) (thanks, _Nipples_) (App)

Can Biological Humans Survive The Singularity?

Can Biological Humans Survive The Singularity?

Boyan IONTCHEV

03 January 2021 – Work In Progress

Hello fellow human. These are some thoughts that have been bouncing in my brain for the past couple of years, as I read the news in various tech and science communities. For the purposes of organizing my ideas I would like to present three possible futures for the second half of the 21st century, and then crystallize those ideas with your help.

A little info about me: I have worked in IT since 2017. Before that I was a web designer for 10 years. I am based in Paris, France but grew up in Bulgaria. My interest in the concept of the singularity was sparked around 2008 when I did a google search about life extension and stumbled upon the work of Ray Kurzweil. His books and predictions gave me a new perspective on tech. I have been challenging it constantly in the past 12 years and the progress has been consistent with the exponential projections. Sometimes even ahead of the timeline like in the case of AlphaGo, the Go playing algorithm that beat the world champion Lee Sedol in 2016, about 10 years before most experts expected.

The key factor for my projections is the technological singularity expected by some to come in the next decades. The singularity is a future event that disrupts our notions of cause and effect continuity because of the exponential evolution of technology in multiple fields. It is referred to by many technological futurists like Ray Kurzweil, Nick Bostrom, and Ben Goertzel as the most important event in the history of humans. By definition it wouldn’t be possible to predict anything beyond the singularity but if one keeps the assumptions to a minimum and the details as vague as possible we could discern a blurry silhouette of the future.

Of course the singularity is a moving target because as we understand more and more of our world our horizons expand and the unknown is pushed further into the future. We don’t expect to actually reach the singularity at any point. Nevertheless it seems that humanity is at a crucial time in history, as it is clear to most impartial observers that the rate of technological innovation is accelerating at a frightening speed. It feels that more things are happening in all areas of life and there are no signs of slowing down the wheels of the next industrial revolution that will soon confront us to gene editing, nano-tech, advanced robotics, quantum computing, driverles

Villainous Cookbook: The Truth Bringer

Note: This article is also published on my blog with some images.

Preface

  • My goal is to make an interesting villain using the player options found in the official and homebrew rules of D&D 5th edition.
  • The goal is not to make a villain who deals the highest amount of damage. This is not the right place for that discussion.
  • I will leave some details out to let the DMs adjust the villain to their preferences. Ability scores are one of them.
  • To emulate character development, I will only make character builds at levels 4, 10, 16, and 20. Players should be at best equal to the villain's tier, optimally at a lower tier.
  • Limitations breed creativity. But I will bend the rules if it makes the villain more interesting.
  • If it seems overpowered, it could be because of rulebending (see the point above), or because I'm mixing homebrews that were not balanced with each other in mind.

The Truth Bringer

> "In a time of deceit telling the truth is a revolutionary act." > > ―George Orwell

&nbsp;

> "Tell the truth, or someone will tell it for you." > > ―Stephanie Klein

Ingredients List

Tier 1

The Truth Bringer is a rather simple one to pull off. In Tier 1, we take 2 levels of druid, 1 level of warlock, and 1 level of cleric. With this, our character is already capable of "back-ups" that let them overcome death with little to no troubles. I'd personally give them an Acolyte background, or a different one that grants them free services.

> Bound to the Portrait > > (1st-level Gray Portrait feature) > > At 1st level, you create and magically bind yourself to your Gray Portrait. The Gray Portrait is a Small or Medium object that weighs at least 15 pounds, has AC 15, hit points equal to four times your warlock level, resistance to all damage, and uses your statistics for saving throws. It can be repaired at a rate of 1 hit point per minute. Y

Updated DBD Killer ranking (by how evil they are)

I've seen a lot of killer tier lists posted around the internet ranking the DBD killers based on how evil they are. I've never found one that I've completely agreed with, so I thought I might as well post my rankings here, along with the reasoning behind my choices.

A. Evil incarnate

  • The Shape - A pretty obvious choice for the "most evil" award. While Michael Myers doesn't seem as outwardly terrifying or brutal as some of the other killers, he lacks what defines every other character in the Dead by Daylight series-- humanity. Other than the Demogorgon and the Executioner, all of DBD's killers possess some human quality that helps to distinguish who they are and who they once were. Michael has nothing of the sort. He expresses no emotions and experiences no character arc or personal transformation. He communicates no hint of fear, delight, remorse, anger, or satisfaction when hunting and killing. He takes no steps to cover up his deeds or hide his true self and takes refuge under no alias or facade. He has no reason to murder others. It is just what he does. To me, that defines him as the ultimate manifestation of evil in the game.

B. Take pleasure in killing

  • The Nightmare - Although Freddy isn't, by definition, evil incarnate, he is about as close to inhuman as a person can come. A child rapist and murderer in life, he gave up his human form when he was killed in order to continue preying upon his young victims in their dreams. Allegedly, Freddy returned to life because his acts were heinous enough that even hell couldn't stand to take him in. His pursuit of children, combined with his demonic behavior following his death, places him this high on the list.
  • The Ghostface - The two big differences that separate Ghostface from Freddy are that Ghostface does not explicitly target or prey on children, and, as far as I am aware, has committed no act horrendous enough to warrant hell spitting him back out. Still, Danny Johnson is a complete sociopath. He stalks and kills his victims because he enjoys witnessing their pain and to further his career as a journalist. He willingly cooperated with the Entity so that he may continue hunting human beings to his heart's delight. He takes the trials as a game and toys with people's lives because he finds it entertaining to do so. He has no other rationale for his actions and sees no reason to have one.
  • The Clown - While Kenneth Chase doesn't revel in the suffering of others as explicitly as Ghostface, he stil

As a general disclaimer, youtube-dl is not illegal, no matter how much the RIAA wants it to be. Hosting it is not illegal, but the RIAA doesn't care about what's legal, so we'll have to act accordingly and not rely on companies that will bend over backwards for them. 100% FOSS Smartphone Hardening non-root Guide 3.0 (for normal people) ft. some advanced tricks

NOTE (June) 15/06/2020: r_privacy moderator trai_dep revengefully deleted my highly gilded 1.0 guide post before.

#NOTE: I will NOT respond to prejudiced and political trolls.

Hello!

9 Reasons to be Super-Bullish on Fastly $FSLY

Disclaimer: Original investment research was published on my blog and many contents and images were removed due to 40k characters limitation on Reddit.

Fastly helps internet-enabled enterprise to deliver faster, more powerful sites and applications on secure, programmable edge cloud platform.

Weak USP <=> Commodity offering

Fastly’s ONLY Moat: Dive-in with in-depth switching cost within the industry vertical

Fastly’s share of the Internet is more than Akamai and almost the same as Amazon CloudFront but nowhere near to Cloudflare. If you compare the revenue per share of the Internet, Cloudflare obviously has huge upsides to charge more to capitalize further. Akamai’s revenue is approximately 10 times more than Fastly but approximately 50% lesser in share of the internet which either Akamai charging 20 times more than it should or Fastly is underpricing which boths scenarios also indicate huge upsides for Fastly to get more revenue from re-pricing or more enterprise customers migrate away for cost-saving. W3tech is showing a very promising territory that Cloudflare is getting into which is mass-market approach and rising in rank in terms of number of high-traffic sites.

I hope this analogy would make sense to you: Would you like to land 5 big clients within the same vertical which own 100 subsidiaries each or land 10000 small clients across 50 different verticals with only 1–2 subsidiaries each? That’s how I look at Fastly versus the rest of the CDN providers or Edge Cloud providers. Go Niche. Go Deeply Integrated. Go Specific. Then cross verticals.

Across many Fastly’s content and earning calls, Fastly has always been saying “Built by developers, to empower developers”, “Giving back the control to the hands of developers”, “We support our customer’s needs and customer’s needs is our core priority”. Fastly’s customers also repeatedly champion for Fastly and love Fastly’s solution a lot. Some of Fastly’s customers also say “F
