Looking to share and meet likeminded folks
Hi r/MangaCollectors, I'm CJ from the publisher UDON Entertainment. You might know us as the publisher of some great manga, like Persona 5: Mementos Mission, or Steins;Gate 0, or Rose of Versailles. Many of the folks on this sub have been super-cool in talking about our work, especially some of the limited-edition items we've doing in conjunction with Barnes & Noble. Typically these include exclusive cover art, posters, and sometimes even an exclusive format like Hardcovers.

We just wanted to drop in because today we launched pre-orders for our next major manga project, SUMMERTIME RENDERING, by Yasuki Tanaka. This 13 volume series that originally ran in Jump+ in Japan will be released as six omnibus editions, in both Softcover AND in Hardcover! We know people have mixed feelings about omnibus editions, but given the MANY mysteries of Summertime Rendering, we think these omnibi make for an amazing reading experience. We also wanted to offer collectors like yourselves the opportunity to get the book in an upgraded hardcover format, through ALL sales channels, so even if you're not in the U.S.A., you can get a first edition hardcover!
Oh and did we mention we're releasing volumes 1, 2, and 3 of the hardcover at the same time? Nothing's ever been done like this in manga publishing, as far as we know, before, and we're really excited about it.
So yeah! Check out the full news on our website at http://www.udonentertainment.com/blog/news/summertime-rendering-cover-reveal-pre-orders
I'll be here (sort of like an unofficial AMA) to answer questions in this thread until Monday. I don't THINK this violates the rules of the sub (apologies in advance if it does!) but I'm still happy to answer questions about SUMMERTIME RENDERING or any of UDON's manga projects here.
Thanks!
I can't really pinpoint why I originally neglected to see the movies and now at this point, avoid it. These kind of movies should really be right up my alley, but at this point I think my lack of desire to watch them is fueled by the fact that it's such a rarity to not have seen any of them. Beyond that, I think I at least narrowed down a few reasons:
Who knows. Maybe I should just go see it. My near 20 year - partially accidental and partially not - hold out really has no value or meaning behind it so maybe I should just give it a chance and bite the bullet. The insult to injury is, I went to a sponsored event a few years back in Orlando Florida where they rented out the entire Harry Potter Universal Theme Park for us and every drink, meal, etc was comped. I ordered one of literally everything on the menus so I could try a bit/sip and move on and I got zero of the references and definitely didn't appreciate it like a true fan would have. There's so many people that deserved that more than me and my sheer unworthiness for such a treasured experience causes me a hint of guilt to this day.
Fin.
The campaign is live as of 8am this morning!
