Hair related Q! for those who gets oily scalps 2 days after showering, what do you do/use to help it? beyond dry shampoo!

I find my scalp gets greasy always 2 days after showering! it’ll get greasy even if i just do shampoo + conditioner and no other products in my hair. i try to wash my hair every 3-4 days now to help curb the oil, it’s helping a bit but i still find my scalp gets pretty greasy. using a hair oil is out of the question for me now.

oddly enough it’s only my scalp that gets greasy, my actual strands (i have long hair) stays nice and soft for the most part.

what do you do/use beyond dry shampoo?

Dry shampoo on clean hair to prevent it from becoming greasy?

I was watching an influencer video some time ago and this girl said her hairdresser recommended using dry shampoo on clean hair to prevent the scalp from getting greasy, rather than waiting for the hair to get dirty and then using the dry shampoo. Has anyone tried this method? Thoughts?

I wash my hair in the evenings. I use clarifying shampoo a few times a week, I use all natural super gentle shampoo no parafins, etc, I eat healthy and dont use product on my hair, or even blow dry. Every morning I have greasy scalp. I am white with fine straight hair. Is this just how it is for me?

Title says it all really. I try and take on all the advice I can online, in regards to my hair type. I've always been this way and nothing works.

Any advice for what I can do next would be appreciated xx

Shampoo for oily scalp and dry ends?

Hi guys! What is the best shampoo for an oily scalp and dry ends?

My scalp has always been oily and I only wash my hair at least twice a week. It gets oily the day after my wash but the rest of my hair is super dry and damaged. I want to keep it soft but I’m not sure what kind of shampoo I can use for that!

TIFU by using dry shampoo instead of showering.

obligatory this didn’t happen today, but last year.

So let’s start with the day I obtained the dry shampoo. i’m a huge fan of Dove products, although have never dabbled in their dry shampoo game. I am also a huge fan of apple scented items, and was absolutely THRILLED to see a fuji apple scented dry shampoo, sporting the β€œNEW” sticker loud and proud at an end cap of my local target aisle. y’all I snatched that up faster than a speeding ticket.

at home I still had about half of a can of my go to brand of dry shampoo. that half of a can should go quickly, as I am the queen of having intentions to shower at the ass crack of dawn of a morning shift, and instead grabbing my trusty little can of dry shampoo to do the job, thus enjoying an extra 45 minutes of sleep and cuddles with my dog. well the day has finally come, as my trusty brand of dry shampoo has run empty, sputtering out its last puffs of life and powder, coating my hair enough to be brushed through and ready for my day.

two days later I have an appointment. my hair is a tad greasy, and we had been shockingly bestowed with a warm day in the beginning of spring, too warm for a hat in Vermont. my hair wasn’t even screaming for the dry shampoo but my heart was. it’s not even noticeably greasy but that fuji apple dry shampoo I had been dying to use.... yes. it’s time. I do my whole routine, generously spray on the dry shampoo, let that sit while I do my makeup, and then get ready to brush it out and leave. yet I look at my hair and it is FAR greasier than when we began? excuse me Dove, I have NEVER been upset at a result of your products. what is this?! so I look at the can trying to scan for something I may have done wrong. was I NOT supposed to shake it? did I not hold it far away enough from my head?

no.

I did everything right, except the part where I sprayed it on my head because I bought deodorant. I bought spray on deodorant and sprayed it onto my head. in the end I had to shower twice and was an hour late to my appointment. I was blinded by the fuji apple and the giddiness that the target run had done to me. shame.

TL;DR I thought I bought dry shampoo but actually bought spray on deodorant and sprayed it on my head and had to shower twice to get the deodorant off of my scalp.

What is the most moisturizing shampoo and conditioner? I live in a dry and extremely cold climate and it's ruining my hair!

I have long, thin, and fine naturally blonde hair that goes down to my belly button. I live in Canada and our climate is very dry and cold (often reaching -40 celcius) and it absolutely destroys my hair. It feels like there is no moisture in it, it's frizzy, tangles easy, etc. I have to condition my hair everyday, but I only shampoo about 2-3x/week. I currently use Pureology Hydrate and it's not cutting it anymore.

I'm looking at getting a shampoo and conditioner from the following lines: Redken All Soft Mega, Matrix Biolage Ultra Hydrasource, OGX Coconut Milk, and Kevin Murphy Hydrate Me.

Do you recommend any of these? Is there another product that is worth checking out? Any other tips and advice? Thanks for the help!

Dry shampoo??

Hi everyone,

I’m currently staying in quarantine in a hotel and am going to be in Mauritius until February for study. I forgot to pack a few things of course, and have been trying to find things online that can be delivered.

I cannot seem to find dry shampoo anywhere. Something like batiste. When I do find it, it is delivered from outside of Mauritius and will take weeks to arrive.

Does dry shampoo exist anywhere on the island?

Thanks!!

Oily hair and Living Proof (holy grail dry shampoo)

I’ve always gotten oily hair pretty quickly but have done my best to wash every other day. Yet even with the dry shampoos I’d tried, I wouldn’t make it to a third day without it starting to show or feel icky.

I got my hands on the dry shampoo by Living Proof and am now considering this my holy grail. How many days have you gotten out of this product? I spray mine overnight so it has time to absorb while I sleep. Just sprayed mine to see how I do on day four!

Btw - is it bad to use dry shampoo several days in a row? I always wondered if it’d be bad for your scalp/cause too much buildup.

Hairdresser says my hair is dry at the ends because of the shampoo I use. Does it really make a difference?

Ok so I have been going to my current hairdresser for a few years and I’m kinda convinced that she doesn’t have my best interest at heart. I feel like she just wants to up sell. I called her today asking for an appointment and I tell her that the ends of my hair are super dry. She immediately cuts me off and asks me which shampoo I use. I begin to tell her I use Maui Moisture which doesn’t contain sulfates, silicones, etc. She said to stay away from all drugstore shampoo and just to buy her salon shampoo instead (which is like $20 for a small bottle). I politely decline because 1) I don’t have the money to splurge on top of the line salon shampoo and 2) I feel like it’s a waste of money because it goes down the drain anyway. But what she doesn’t take into consideration is that my hair has been bleached multiple times, and I haven’t gotten a trim in over six weeks. So if it was the shampoo making my hair dry, wouldn’t it be dry everywhere? Not just the tips?

Dry Shampoo in Japan?

In the US I use the Batiste for dark hair, so it has a dark tint to it. Because anyone with dark hair knows how much of an issue the white powders can be when you're trying to work it into your hair.

I looked around but couldn't find any brands or anything and ran across some people recommending LUSH's dry shampoo, but I was hoping for maybe a Japanese drug store/convenient store brand. Something comparable to the Batiste in an aerosol can.
