USE A VPN WHEN ACCESSING THIS DIRECTORY!!!
Also if using wget, be sure to use the flag "-e robots=off"
I'm in the middle of a Windows Server hardware upgrade where I decided to start fresh with a new active directory/Windows domain and ditch the ~20 year old Windows domain. The outgoing root domain name is sprockets.com (example) and that eventually caused issues as the client started using that domain for an actual web site a couple years ago. I'm thinking the new root domain name will be sprockets.lan as I'm sure the client will never use that domain for a future web site or for anything public.
But after sleeping on it, I'm not too confident anymore in the new root domain name (sprockets.lan). I'm paranoid about running into the same issue as the last domain name. Plus, in the next year or so, the client may add a Windows servers to each of their other [physical] locations/sites (4 total) and/or start to utilize some Azure AD stuff and cloud server VMs.
I'd like to future proof this new setup and avoid DNS/naming issues and DNS/naming workarounds with future AD expansions. Is sprockets.lan still a good choice or should I go with something else?
P.S. - I can't find it now, but last night I came across a blog post where someone stated .local and .lan are now available registerable TLDs which started my paranoia.
(Edit: solved itβs a very old small Easter egg from some guy called Dave :)
So I was on the directory just deciding what I should do when I noticed thereβs a bunch a numbers on the sides, one of them looked like Hexadecimal(61 6C 72 69 67 68 74 6F 6B) and I put it into a hex translator and it came out with βalrightokβ. I tried putting the other numbers in but they must be in other encoding languages since nothing really came up except from 6D61638B61790D0A which turns into mac%8Bay%0D%0A when you do Hexadecimal to URLencoded
(Havenβt seen these spoke about and they probably mean nothing but if your bored try messing around with them)

Hey r/Kuwait,
Greetings from the UAE!
TL; DR: We created a shawharma directory called Shawherema for the community to add, like, share, and discover different shawharma spots!
It is basically a site where you can view community added likes of different shawarma spots. Since we reside in the UAE, we shared it first in r/dubai, and lately we shared it also with r/bahrain, and we want to share it with you guys to use!
We have already added a few spots in Kuwait, but there might still be a lot of hidden gems out there that you guys would like to share with everyone to discover!
We plan to add more features and are open to suggestions on the directory!
I hope you guys enjoy it as much as we loved building it!
Happy eating!
Edit: Wow, thanks for the awards guys! really appreciate it!
Hi Guys,
I really like Monero and the community. In fact, its the only coin I recommend to people for obvious reasons. I decided it was time to stop sitting around and start building something for Monero. I decided to start working on a directory to find everything related to Monero as well as stores that accept Monero. The site is brand new and I am open to feedback / suggestions. I hope you guys like it, I will try to keep improving it.
I have seen a lot of hesitation to store private keys on an encrypted folder/drive and then sync it up to the cloud. These directories could be encrypted with veracrypt or cryptomator - however, there seems to be a concern around it. The biggest one being - assume your computer is hacked at any point in time. Beyond this is there a solid reason to not do this?
I already graduated, but I went to school with a lot of people that bullied me in high school and Iβm pretty sure some of them found out by searching me in the directory. They found out my major and spoke to professors about me in a negative way which impacted my reputation.
I donβt really see it as being helpful because if you have a group project in your class, you can find them through Blackboard and message them on there through email.
Edit: I also post this because I donβt want future students to go through this. I feel like itβs an easy fix to get rid of the the Directory with students names on it. It can be used in a very negative way and itβs not beneficial to anyone who is a student.
Had made this list a long time ago. Finally decided to share it. Removed some dead sites like ololo.to before posting.

I received the email from the CFAI that I can start using the CFA designation. But I'm still not showing up in the member directory. I emailed the CFAI but it has been over a week with no response. Any advice? Does it really take this long to be added?
EDIT: Resolved! Thank you for your help.
I just downloaded steam installer > installed steam into C:\Program Files > ran Steam > "Steam must be online to update" even though I'm online > run uninstaller because this app is broken > Steam uninstalls my entire Program Files directory
i have no experience with data recovery but i'd really rather not download and reinstall the whole thing. What kind of design is this that it just deletes the entire contents of the parent directory? Help with recovering apps?

... keep reading on reddit β‘I found my self using cd for long directory paths and although it was now part of muscle memory, thanks to autocomplete, I just grew tired of it
I knew we could make aliases but the whole process of defining each alias in .bashrc seemed daunting
So I made cdd - https://github.com/nsrCodes/cdd
Yess, I am too lazy to press tabs and ironically super excited to work on a project for two days which works completely like cd but let's me forget the nested directory structure that I have and remember them with 3-4 letter aliases (FYI, I use this tool everyday now and my terminal now rarely sees cd)
P.S. just so that this project doesn't seem like a complete waste of time I also added a cdo command to open directories/aliases to the file manager using just 3 simple letters
WDYT? Was this project a waste of time?
Hello there!
We have a relatively small environment and are looking to join our RHEL systems (mix of RHEL6 and 7) to our existing Active Directory environment.
Really just looking at it from an authentication and authorization (sudo) perspective.
Would any of you happen to have a good guide on joining the servers to AD and subsequent sudoers file entries, or a reference?
edit: clarity
Hey, I'm still kind of new to Arch and I'm having fun with it. I'm kinda confused when it comes to the AUR though. I just create an AUR folder in my home directory and build the packages there. Is this how I am supposed to do it, or am I supposed to do it in a temporary directory of some sort?
I get an error message in the terminal,
"[email protected]:/mnt/c/Users/daria/Desktop/work$ C:/Users/daria/AppData/Local/Programs/Python/Python39/python.exe c:/Users/daria/Desktop/work/test.py-bash: C:/Users/daria/AppData/Local/Programs/Python/Python39/python.exe: No such file or directory
I would like to present F2, a batch renaming command line tool written in Go and focused on speed and safety. I starting writing this tool last year but I got busy on other projects and I'm just getting around to making the first stable release.
F2 is very fast (see benchmarks) and performs several checks to keep the process safe to avoid overwriting files collisions.
Here's a summary of its feature set:
More information, examples and installation instructions can be found on GitHub.
I would really like to receive feedback from the community to improve this tool.
Hi all,
My friends and I have been working on an address searchable directory for local farms (Portland and the surrounding communities) and we are hoping for feedback on the site we've built. There's no sale to be made here - this is just for feedback on a prototype.
The site is called All The Farms and can be found here.
If you are someone that likes to buy from local farms, you are exactly the person that can help and your feedback is amazingly helpful.
Here is a link to the survey (we used Google Forms) and if you have five minutes to fill it out,
I really appreciate it. Thank you, and I hope that when you can, you buy direct from local farms.
Hi,
I have many files in a directory with different filenames.I would like to concatenate/combine only those files whose name begins with "curled.ip.
How can i do that using bash ?
Thanks
First off, thank you all for the insane amount of great advice here. It has been invaluable to me in my planning for my server I'm building.
I'm trying to decide what datasets I want and why. This way I can make decisions about what kind of settings I want for each one and can organize, snapshot, and back them up separately. I plan on running almost everything in a VM, proxmox just acts as a thin access point and manages the disk setup. I'll have proxmox on it's own drive (also zfs) and the storage tank on a separate array of disks. VMs will be stored on the hypervisor boot disk (it's an SSD)
What I've figured so far for datasets:
media/ # TV Shows/Movies/Music that are not personal
cloud_drive/ # My documents, important things, etc. things previously stored in google cloud, probably hosting nextCloud or the like
cloud_drive/my_media/ # Pictures, videos, and recordings I've made, separate data set so I can apply more aggressive compression if necessary
isos/ # Operating systems, other bootable media
containers/container_configs/
containers/container_data/ # any configuration, assets, directory structures, databases, or whatever for running containers (which I plan to run in a VM). Subfolder for each container
containers/container_data/torrents # example of a container_data entry, specifically this one would have recordsize=16KB
I'm also considering
cloud_drive/
cloud_drive/media
cloud_drive/my_media
isos/
containers/container_configs/
containers/container_data/
Any and all organizational suggestions and ZFS best practices are welcome.
For those curious, I plan on having 2 8x2TB VDEVs in my zpool to start, so RAID10 configuration (due to what I've read about that vs RAIDZ2, I think that's what's best for me).
I should mention I plan on hosting services like sonarr/radarr, download client or two, jellyfin, etc. as well as Bookstack etc, nginx proxy etc.
I foolishly changed my home directory (through System Preferences > Users & Groups > Ctrl+click on main user) to /usr, where I am building a library to run certain software, and after restarting my computer I cannot log in to my user account on my Mac anymore. It is just stuck on the loading screen once I enter my password. I also donβt have a guest or other account to log in from. Is there anyway to fix this mistake?
You can use Azure AD and Intune for Windows 10 workstations., However, if you also need to manage servers, Azure AD alone isnβt adequate.
If you donβt want an on prem AD, but still need central management of Windows Server policies and configuration and use applications that require LDAP/ADFS and Kerberos support, how does Azure Active Directory Domain Services compare to JumpCloud, Okta and AWS Directory Service etc.?
I am looking for fully cloud hosted active directory so I can manage users, devices and policies is such solution exists. Thanks in advance.
We use Azure AD MFA on Office 365 and a few systems that we have integrated with the βNPS (RADIUS) extension for Azure AD MFAβ. My question is, is it possible to integrate Azure AD MFA directly with on-prem AD that is synced? This is with the hope that any of our current systems that have LDAP or AD auth setup can be protected with MFA with minimal effort. Can this work with RDP? The main goal is to protect privileged AD accounts with MFA. Is there a better solution?
