Two weeks before Christmas my boyfriend and I went shopping. I saw that The OC series was on sale and I made a comment about it. He told me he watched the show too when he was younger and said he wouldn't mind watching it with me if we ever got it. A week later he died. I found out that he had bought the series with intentions of binge watching it together. I can't bring myself to watch it. It's sitting beside my tv still wrapped in plastic. I look at it every day and want to cry. We should have been watching it together..
Like it have aspect of female lead and murder theme....not female contract assassin like Killing Eve...But a Tv Series where a female commit a crime and how she get away or hide it from anyone else kind of thing. Is there any suggestion?

I have rarely gone wrong with Dan's recommendations for documentaries or movies. Sadly, there was a queue floating somewhere in this tiny brain of mine of docus and flicks the crew had recommended and most of it has been washed away with alcohol, just like the library of past podcasts "produced" washed away by ESPN. Poof!
I thought it might be a good idea, with the mod's approval, of course, to start a post that had a some of the recommendations from Dan, Mike, David Samson and the rest of the gang.
If it's cool, and you all think this is a decent idea, I will add documentaries/movies recommended by the staff on air in this post.
So, here's the idea. Post a comment below with...
- a documentary/movie recommended on air
- streaming service/network where it can be found
- which show member recommended it
(also, give it an upvote if you can confirm that the movie or docu was, in fact, recommended by an on-air member)
With the mod's blessing, I will continue to update as much as I can to this list as more people remember old recommendations... AND as more recommendations start to come in (since we'll get, at the very least, one per week so long as Samson is around).
Here we go...
- Brawl In Cell Block 99 (Movie / Amazon Prime)
- Shot Caller (Movie / Netflix)
- The Reagans (Docuseries / Showtime)
- Killer Ratings (Docuseries / Netflix)
- Free Solo (Documentary / Disney+ via NatGeo)

This isn't actually from the tip of my tongue, but from my house manager and his nephew. They told me a general idea about the, swore like it was undeniable facts that the show they were talking about is real and existed, where they watched it, and the manager said his cousin could tell me the title.
What they described was a bi-weekly Japanese Saturday television series in which King Kong was a major character and he fought other kaiju including King Ghidorah, and on six occasions, Godzilla. They said that the confrontations between Godzilla and King Kong were built up to, as in Godzilla appearing in the mid-season would be a big reveal leading up to a conclusion weeks later where Godzilla and Kong have a large fight. They went into minor detail in what was supposedly Godzilla and Kong's last fight. They said Godzilla powered himself up by chewing on electric tower cables, and he was sapping Kong's energy and trying to wrestle Kong underwater because Kong was too strong to defeat on land.
I suggested that they probably meant the 1962 Toho film King Kong vs Godzilla, which features a scene of King Kong chewing on electric wires go give himself a strength boost, and it ends with Godzilla and King Kong grappling as they fall into the ocean. But they were both adamant that it wasn't a movie, it was a television show and they fought several times across the airing of the show. I also asks if perhaps he meant Zone Fighter, even though King Kong never appeared in that show, but he denied that as well.
The only other concrete detail he gave was that it aired every other week because on the weeks where it wasn't playing, the channel that aired it would instead have martial arts movies like The Five Deadly Venoms, Fists of the White Lotus, and Clan of the White Lotus.
It had to have been an old show because he is in his 40s and he said he watched it as a kid.
I don't think the show he's talking about actually exists, I'm sure he's mixing things up in his head, but I still need to find out if there's anything that anybody knows that could be what he was thinking of.
I know in Ultraman there is a monster that they used an altered Godzilla suit for, but King Kong was never in Ultraman either, or either of the Godzilla cartoons or the Monster Island Godzilla tv series.
I am running into dead ends trying to find any results for Godzilla vs King Kong battles other than the original King Kong vs Godzilla and the movie coming out later this month, and the only re
... keep reading on reddit β‘So I have been looking for this info for 25 years, I've tried a few times but I though I would try again.
a bit of back story: (skip if you like) When I was a kid I would some times wake up at some ungodly hour and would go to the living room and watch TV, at the time I Was up there was rarely anything Kid Orientated (this was the mid 90's so not many all day kids channels at this point) Most of the shows were PG 13 and Up movies, Anthology Shows (Twilight Zone and the 90's version of Outer Limits) .
One morning I tuned in found a show pretty sure it was an anthology Movie or show I'm not sure, It looked older than the Outer limits and Twlight zone that was on at that time but it could have been either, I only have ever seen this one Once, and the story seemed interesting even to my 8 Year old mind, but I can't seem to find it.
The Plot of the Story: It's all about a man that works as a Funeral Director of a small town, and when ever he gets a body of some one he dislikes he decides to do something "Ironic" to the body. IE: Woman who was morbidly obese he decorates her in her coffin to look like a cake (frosting and everything), another man who worked as a Pen sales man (or something like that) he dies the man dyes his skin with pen Ink. Now no one knows hes doing this, and in this story he is explaining what he does to a dead body of some one he dosen't like, I can't remember alot of the other plot but the Funeral director gets attacked by the dead he did these Ironic things to and they drag him to the grave yard.
I have tried telling so many people about this and none of them know what it is, Please help me if you can. I know the plot isn't exactly detailed but it's the best I can do.
Or to put it another way, I prefer a series of stand-alone stories connected by dent of starring the same main characters, as opposed to a series of "to be continueds."
I've found that when a show allows me to enjoy it at my own pace, I'm way more likely to stay loyal. For example my favorite anime right now is Detective Conan. this anime is currently 900+ episodes long.
But here's the trick: This is a detective/mystery anime, and as such, the majority of episodes are basically "here's the stiff, now find the killer!" (yeah, I've been around long enough to remember when dead bodies were called "Stiffs") and can be enjoyed individually. It's one of the few anime where you can skip ahead 700 episodes (or to any of the 23 movies) and still totally understand what's going on. Every once in awhile there's a "Story Arc" episode, but again, these are rare.
By comparison, recently I've tried to watch Fist of the North Star, read Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, read Berserk, and several other anime with continuous story arcs from beginning to end... and they usually bore me. In the realms of Western television, this still holds true... I've tried to watch several TV shows which have continuous stories but I usually get bored very early. Doctor Who and Berserk wound up holding me for a long time, but those were it.
The main thing is, well... like I said, I like to enjoy things at my own pace, not be told I essentially have to watch a full TV series in one go or wait for new episodes. Back when Harry Potter was first coming out, I read the first four books... and the fifth book didn't exist yet. By the time Order of the Phoenix came out, I had moved on to other things. If all seven books had existed I would've read them all, but that wasn't how it played out for me.
Anyway, yeah. So for me its kinda not good that most TV is geared towards binge-watching and season-long story arcs. At the very least I'm less likely to be loyal to such shows.
I watched (or half watched/ half played on my phone) a TV series. I think itβs fairly recent. Within the last 5 years or so. This is what I remember:
β female (maybe a detective) protagonist β thereβs a murder of a teenager or a missing teenager β the last episode ends with the woman in the backyard of a house with a pool. β she (maybe) has a flashback that perhaps she was involved in the murder
Hopefully this is decent enough info for now. Thanks in advance!
ETAβ I am pretty sure this was a miniseries or a one season show. My clearest memory is the woman by the poolβ but itβs not Dead to Me. It felt a little more serious/ darker than that.
In a discussion about streaming services, people started talking about Fargo, and I realized that it has been a long time since I saw a really good series in that caliber. And I really struggle to find one that I havenβt already seen.
Going by my list below, I guess one could say that I like dark drama and crime, focused on realism and that takes place in the present or semi-present time. A hint of sci-fi is acceptable, if it still feels realistic, same thing with action.
I leave out comedy/sitcom/humor and cartoons/anime, since those genres are very different and would be best in a separate post.
Also, a good script and good acting is essential for me. So many series (and movies) have looked good on paper, but fall short on these things.
It is really hard to put a finger on what I really like, but all the ones in my top list have βitβ, and I am looking for other series that will give me a similar feeling.
Creme de la creme:
Runners-up:
Seem interesting, might watch:
Below is a list of series that for some reason hasnβt been right for me. Itβs not a list of βbadβ series, they just donβt match my taste or for some other reason didnβt feel right when I watched it. I put it here as some examples, to get a better sense of what I like and dislike.
Not really my style:
Edit: I added Killing Eve and The Fall to my top list, two series I had forgotten but I enjoyed immensely and would highly recommend.
I believe it as a mini-series from late 70βs or early 80βs. I canβt remember that much from it, but there were two bodyguards, possibly Israeli, who protected the protagonist. Quite late in the series there was an attack, and one of the bodyguards jumps on a grenade, looking at his colleague, and when the grenade exploded, his body jumped visibly to air. The dead bodyguard was, if my memory serves me correctly, mustachioed and curly haired, and often used long jackets.
The reason I locate this to early 80βs is, that a 1984 ZAZ-comedy called βTop Secret!β made a joke about the scene. There one person jumps on a grenade and when it goes off, everyone else im the room are thrown to air.
Me again!
I watched this season about a fortnight ago, but was busy, so only had time to post this now. During Season 2 of The purge, I counted 91 kills, 17 more than season 1. During this, I counted 4 people on the pile in the store room during the season finale, and I'm pretty sure I got it right.
Yay, this time I remembered! Golden RPG has a few options, with burnings and whatnot, but I'm gonna give it to an off-purge kill (whut)! For me, it goes to the woman who got Goddamn ploughed through by the truck, because that's probably the most graphic vehicle death I've EVER seen, and it went on for so damn, blood-filled long!
Rusty dagger has a bunch of options, but I'll give it to the "scavenger hunt" people hanging from the bridge during the first purge of this season, since we just saw them hanging, and we don't know whether that was their death or if they were already dead?
When I was a little kid I was watching a weird movie or tv series about an old man, (I think he was "Geppetto") with a little robot who was taking care of. Well the old man returned home one day, and he found the little robot petting a dead cat, saying "It's so fluffy, It's so fluffy, It's so fluffy" like the robot was glitching or something. That time the old man knew that he need to get rid of the little robot.
That's all I remember. I don't know if was an episode from The Twilight Zone or from the Tales From The Crypt or something else.
Please help me!
I have a faint memory of a tv movie or series for kids and teens I saw once on the tv. Due to me being young and trying to remember it is possible there is a mixup or that these actually multiple things. So if anything rings a bell it would be helpfull to sort out this fever dream of recollections.
There was an android kid with wheels and cogs inside of him and he was oppened at one time.
There was a girl that decided to drive a tank. Due to malfunction, tank blew up with he being hurt/dead. A name 'betacamp' or something simillar is something I remember.
There was a scientist that made up his own language and was socially akward a bit. Was accompanied by a female scientist.
An old woman comes to her lovers grave. He appears to her in young form and tells her he can take her to a new planet to live with him and other aliens but she would have to die. She accepts and she joines him on that planet and now she is young again.
So I am very confused how could this be all same show.. perhaps too much lead in water or my toys as a kid..

From what I can recall, the lead wasn't a detective, per se. I recall her having a medical background. Possibly a coroner, but, I believe she had a private practice.
Fairly standard mystery/crime drama, though I recall it being of high quality. I don't believe it was set in America, but it was definitely a 20s kind of vibe.
I can only recall one episode plot. The director of an asylum was pushing an extremely controversial take on exposure therapy. Unorthodox, but, effective. When his patients start turning up mysteriously dead, the protagonist is called in.
One suspect had been placed in the asylum due to "hysteria". She was in a relationship with one of the other patients, a woman who turned up mysteriously dead. She became furious when the protagonist insinuated there had been an actual relationship, shouting "I refuse to be labeled a Saphist!" Or something to that effect.
Anyone have any idea what this is?
Ninja Edit: it's been a minute since I've seen it, but, last airdate can't be prior to 2012. It was airing on some over-the-air network, so, not cable. MeTV, or something like it.
It might have been set in Canada.
Edit: I can't put into words why, but, I wanna say this was shot around the time David Tennant portrayed The Doctor. I recall this being before I got into Doctor Who, and that was just before Clara became the new Companion, I think. ...It could be, possibly, earlier. My memory is a bit shaky at that time of my life.
I'm looking for this (popular? ) crime drama series, i watched a particular episode on fox and that's all i can remember it by. The episode was about this dude that wouldn't die, it started out with them investigating his supposed death at his "corpse" location, next thing the dude springs up like he was in a deep sleep to the shock of the investigators and the paramedics that had presumed him dead, a couple days later they're trying to figure out what happened and they get news that he's dead for real this time, they go to investigate that, see he has no pulse, about to close things out, then he's back to life, again, minutes later, this goes on for a few more days, was basically the plot of that whole episode.
pretty interesting episode, had me hooked but I couldn't finish it.
It's should be pretty popular and i feel like anyone who watches crime shows would definitely know it, i hope the episode description is of help :(
I must admit, it did take me a lot longer than it should have to see this given how "Creepshow" the film is one of my favorite horror films of all time and the greatest horror anthology ever ("Creepshow 2" is a lot less impressive, but still fun and "Tales From the Darkside: The Movie" almost as good as the first film...yes, it's the real "Creepshow 3", FUCK that abortion that actually dares have that name). But at long last I was able to do so this past weekend and I'm really glad I did. This was a fun first season and it's clear Greg Nicotero and company have the style and feel of the original film down cold. Yes, some stories are better than others and the low budget is obvious a fair amount of the time (and they could do more with the Creep than have him just laugh maniacally), but there isn't an episode yet where I wasn't entertained. A quick rundown of my views of all the stories done:
"Gray Matter" - This was one of my favorite of Stephen King's early short stories and it was done in fine form here. It's nice to see Tobin Bell and Giancarlo Esposito actually play good guys for once, the special effects are appropriately grotesque and the King in-jokes abound aside from Adrienne Barbeau's presence (the monster killed Cujo, Church, the cat from "Sleepwalkers" and the creepy "Shining" twins!).
"The House of the Head" - This was the highlight episode as far as scares go. The whole dollhouse thing was very creepy and very well done and it's fascinating to contemplate the entire horror story unfolding within those miniature walls. Plus Cailey Fleming from "The Walking Dead" was a very likable young protagonist. I know some didn't like the ending, but I'm glad she and her family got out in one piece.
"Bad Wolf Down" - Very goofy, but very entertaining. Jeffrey Combs as a Nazi commander alone got points (although I don't think he got enough screentime) and the method of showing the werewolf transformations via the comic art was both clever and a neat way to get around the budget limitations.
"The Finger" - An amusing one, particular with "Bob" sitting and chowing down on popcorn (the scene with him flying is hilarious). DJ Qualls also gives an excellent turn as a quirky loser and I like the ambiguous nature of the ending and whether "Bob" was real or not.
"All-Hallow's Eve - Boy, major "Stranger Things/It" influence on this one, with the Loser's Club of Dungeons and Dragons-playing trick-or-treaters. Pretty predictable, but very much in the EC
... keep reading on reddit β‘That's an interesting period to me which I don't think we've seen much of. I think a TV series would be the right format as following a group of survivors scavenging through ruined cities has a Walking Dead vibe, but instead of zombies they begin to encounter Skynet traps (like monofilament wire, smart mines, etc.) and early, crude Skynet attempts at killer robots like small explosive drones. Doing this over many episodes would allow for a very slow burn as they piece together the clues.
Traps and crude drones don't sound scary compared to HKs or terminators, but imo they can be more terrifying because they're unexpected at first, and horrifyingly senseless ways to die. If it's handled with extreme realism and the gore is believable, explicit, and sudden, then seeing main characters die to monofilament wire cutting them up before they realize it's happening (ala the film "Cube") or being abruptly brained by an explosive micro-drone would have a "less is more" impact versus plasma blasting chrome skeletons.
The plot would basically involve the formation of the resistance, the appearance and rise to power of John Connor, and the slow discovery of what caused the nukes to launch & has been setting the traps. The series would culminate in a few climactic episodes where the surviving protagonists encounter their first HKs and early terminator models, cooperating to take them down & study the remains.

There's always a lot of talk about remaking Harry Potter as a TV series. With the rising popularity of streaming, and decreasing popularity of movie theatres, I have no doubt that this could happen in the future. Warner Bros. will want to milk the Wizarding World for all it's worth after Fantastic Beasts is done (or redeem the franchise if FB is cancelled.)
Many people seem to like the idea of 1 chapter = 1 episode, but this simply does not work. You would have entire episodes that are just Harry opening birthday presents and reading letters. Or the trio chatting with Dobby in the Kitchens.
In order to have compelling story progression in each episode, you'd need to compile 4-8 chapters in each episode, which could then range from 40 minutes to more than 1 hour per episode. This way, each episode can naturally transition into the next, with a satisfying yet "cliffhanger"-ish ending.
Back in the Coronavirus lockdown, I had a lot of time on hand... Like a lot. So I spent it skimming through each chapter to see how you could create a Harry Potter TV series that actually could work well. I might as well share it here! I could be completely wrong though. I'd love to hear your ideas or dreams for a HP adaptation!
3 episodes, 3h10min in total
The movie adaptations of Philosopher's Stone and Chamber of Secrets are pretty damn accurate, so adding approximately 1 hour to their runtime should be enough for them to include everything that makes sense to include.
For Philosopher's Stone, this includes Peeves, the full 4 challenges protecting the Philosopher's Stone, the midnight duel against Draco, Charlie Weasley picking up Norbert in the night, etc.
1h10min, chapters 1 through 6 (6 chapters)
Opener: Vernon Dursley leaves for work November 1st 1981, and shoos away a cat he thought he saw reading a map in his driveway
Ending: The first years sail towards Hogwarts Castle
1h, chapters 7 through 12 (6 chapters)
Opener: Hagrid leads the first years to the castle entrance and they enter the Great Hall for their sorting
**Ending: Harry leaves the classroom after being caught by Dumbledore looking into the Mirror of Erised. Dumbledore looks like he was not honest wh
Before I write anything else, I want to say very clearly - I do NOT dislike the series.
Now that's out of the way, I wanted to share my thoughts now that the news has sunk in about the series ending. Ever since the TV show began, I've been watching every single episode as soon as it was available where I live (often being "sick" for big episodes like finales etc.). Every single episode would be an event for me, the week of anticipation for what was coming next would still feel amazing even though I knew the comics like the back of my hand. I'd watch every preview, every sneak peek of future episodes as well as a bunch of Walking Dead Youtubers and their prediction/discussion videos. (A lot of Trevschan2 before he started posting some weird conspiracy nonsense, MaPP etc.)
I'll never forget watching season 6 with the anticipation of Negan finally making an appearance and even though to this day I think it could've been handled much better, it was still amazing. I thought that with season 7 the series would reach new hights, but thats when things started to feel off. Nothing really changed for me, I would still watch the episodes as soon as they aired, still kept up with discussions going on in the community, but it just wasn't the same. When season 8 rolled around I knew what All out War had in store, so again, I was very excited. Even though there were some fairly major problems I personally saw in the writing (Carl dying,a lot of Ricks decisions, infinite bullets and Eugene making them only becoming relevant in the later part of the war etc) , I still considered it my favorite series of all time.
A couple of years ago now, just before an exam I first heard the leaked news about Andrew Lincoln leaving the series, I won't lie, that actually hit me a lot harder than I'd like to admit. After 9 years, Rick Grimes would actually leave The Walking Dead. What turned out to be a massive surprise to me was that season 9 was actually amazing even without Rick, but there was still that thought at the back of my mind that something is just off. It was still Walking Dead, but I had these moments where I just thought - this has become a typical zombie show, which is a pretty dumb conclusion when you think about it - TWD IS a zombie show, but to me it was always something more.
Season 10 to me seems like an objectively good season, the villian is awesome and the story is gripping as hell. It has even went back to its horror roots of the first seasons. Even now,
... keep reading on reddit β‘Let me preface this rant by saying I am excited and hopeful for the tv adaptation as much as anyone else on this sub, but we need to keep expectations realistic. No matter how good the adaptation is, its almost guaranteed you will be disappointed in it in some way
When an author makes a book, their only limitation is their own imagination, but adapting to another medium, especially to live action, you will always end up with an inferior product simply because of all the limits and constraints that live action has, time, budget, director ability, etc. Unless a studio gives pierce a blank check to get world class talent and an infinite cgi budget for the show it wont live up to the image in your head while you read.
A tv series has a limited amount of screen time, at an assumed pace of one book a season, that wont be enough to adapt an entire book without some scenes being cut or altered, potentially to the show's detriment. Not to mention that to get the entire series it will take 3-6 seasons to adapt, depending if all the books are getting adapted or just the first trilogy. That puts a big weight on the first season to bring in an audience to warrant a second season.
In order to do that, we get into probably the biggest bane of adaptations, producer meddling, they dont like risk, and love money, and red rising is a fairly niche sci fi epic, in short, a risky and potentially expensive affair, so they will inevitably override creative control to pander to focus groups, or add instantly dated, modern day slang to appeal to young adults, or at worst, DEAD MEMES (black panther "what are those?" Scene anyone?). Producers will do anything to increase the "mass market appeal" of the show, stifling the original vision in the process.
Another issue is bad casting and direction. No matter what, the picture of darrow in your head will never look exactly like the actor playing darrow in the show. Its impossible, all these fan casts, while cool, show an impossible dream, and the actual casting will be an inevitable disappointment, the witcher Netflix show has similar casting problems, namely the casting for triss, who wasnt even red headed and Henry cavill who was a contentious pick until the trailer was released. And you could have the BEST actors in the world, but without a good director, they can still put out a performance that could be outdone by a high school drama club.
bad costumes can also also be a problem, witcher testicle armor comes to mind

I remember have seen some scenes that I considered graphic in Sinetron/local TV series. Pre-KPI era, of course. If these scenes were made today, there could be protests and warning from KPI. All of them from late 1990s to mid 2000s These are some that I still remember:
Si Buta dari Goa Hantu. The main character is trying to blind himself by putting two bamboo stakes on a tree. Then proceed to run and thrust his eyes to the stakes. After that he was shown with his eyes completely destroyed: gushy "meat" in his eye sockets complete with blood dripping from it, while the character screams with total pain. I was still toddler at that time, so seeing that scene is quite shocked me.
Gerhana...I think. Well, I'm not sure whether these scenes from Gerhana or not, but I guess the writer of this series really hate babies. I remembered two scenes in that series involving infanticide. First, a flashback scene showing a mother and a grandmother holding the mother's baby. Then a man came bursting to the room, grabbed the baby, and proceed to slam the baby until the baby is dead, then proceed to murder the rest of the family. Another scene showing a "Vampire" or "Dracula" came to a bedroom then killing the entire family sleeping there. And then that vampire is shown eviscerating a baby while the baby is still crying, complete with bloody stomach and exposed intestines.
Some kind of sinetron silat/laga...I forgot the name. Involving actual killing of an animal in front of camera. IIRC, the scene is about initiation ceremony of a girl into a padepokan silat or some sort. One of the rite she should do in the ceremony is to cut a chicken's throat/neck with her teeth. Then an interview by an entertainment tabloid shows that the scene is real, she actually killed an actual chicken by cutting the chicken's neck with her teeth in front of camera. She was asked about how she feels when doing that scene, what the sinetron is about, etc.
Another Sinetron with unknown name. Involving stomping a hamster/a mouse. I don't watch the episode entirely, only seeing it while searching a TV channel. I forgot the detail, but it shows a child trying to catch her white hamster/mouse pet inside the house, then the pet falls from second floor to the road, then someone accidentally stomped it. Then the scene depicts what happened with the pet: bloody flattened body with intestines bursting from its body. Imagine those sewers r
There's so many great shows that I initially gave up on before returning to them; The Wire, Mad Men, 24, usually the first few episodes not grabbing my attention. What other examples do people need to know about that they should commit to?
My personal one is Jericho. Jericho started off as average, completely mediocre for its first few episodes, just bad acting and writing, like a midday soap opera, I only kept watching because of the buzz. Then it became okay. Then very good before being consistently great for the last third of S1 and all of S2, culminating in a top 20 all time pick for me as a whole. But had I given up after the first couple of episodes forever, I would've missed out on a fascinating journey, a more interesting version of a post apocalyptic scenario than The Walking Dead, what Revolution should have been.
Any other suggestions?
So, I have a Samsung 43β Crystal UHD 4K TV. Itβs a 7000 series, not the top of line, not terribly expensive, but overall a great TV. I was messing around a little bit ago & I noticed ONE dead pixel near the bottom left hand corner of my TV. When I bought it, it was a $330 TV, like I said, not expensive, but my first 4K & smart tv. Would it be unreasonable of me to submit a product claim and get it fixed/replaced? The tv is only 6 months old & Iβm covered under a warranty until May 31st, 2021...
Look at that Draconic letters.
*Show opening scene*
The Dragon, is.. power.
Once, they were our equals.
Today, Humans control the dragons to race...compete...and fight;
At nearly 200mph.Now, dragons are once again ready to be released.
And the, powerful, Dragon of Legend, will choose a young hero to save the planet;
The Dragon Booster!
"RELEASE THE DRAGON"
Yes, that's right. You're going to hear that phrase a lot from this show. Though it may sound cringe for you to see me screaming this catch-phrase. Being a secret superhero riding your super-dragon, you would basically shout at empty audience all the time except couple of your close friends. At least after then tenth time, it started to sound cool instead of cringe.
By now you would have guess that the protagonist is the chosen one and he beats up bad guy by night and acts like normal in the day light. A typical vigilante batman-ish hero right?
Then you were not wrong, but boy, do i glad they twisted some of the formula that is more focus on the idea that its tough of being a hero than wrecking bad guys up in every episode (but sometimes both). And even better, after first season, we starting to have a 'Avatar:Last Airbender's Zuko'-ish villain redemption arc on one of our main villain. Which was awesome!
This show is one of few shows that pilot episodes are worse than the rest of the episode. If you push through the first two episode, then you off a good start because the whole series will leave you craving for more AND MORE. (90k petition for a new seasson on a show in the 2000s is amazing.)
As for the community? Well its pretty much dead, i think? There are couple of fan website. Many domain name had gone into domain-sitters. An old flash game. And sizable fanfiction stories around it. Not bad for a tv series for kids.
My only gripes with it is that dragons are basically muted intellegent creature. (except for that one) Very little spotlight is shown to human-dragon interaction. (except for that switch-a-roo episode). Not enough spotlight for other characters. But when any of these happened, they were pretty cool.
So i rate this show a pretty good show for a

>Oh. Well, if the shooter SAYS he wasn't racially motivated (which coincidentally carries a higher penalty), then I guess we need to believe him. ... keep reading on reddit β‘So I've gotten around to watching DCU's Swamp Thing series, and I believe it to be one of the best comic book adaptations of a character, especially in terms of DC adaptations. The show has everything that you need for a good Swamp Thing: body horror, mystery, and a gritty setting. Despite all this, I couldn't help but feel as if something was off about the show's antagonist. Because of that, here I will be giving my pitch for what one change I would make to the Swamp Thing show to make it not only have a more interesting villian, but a better overall closing to the series' reoccurring theme of death, and loss.
So, despite this being a show titled swamp thing, the show follows Abigail Arcane, a character from the comics who is often the close friend and love interest of Swampy. Arcane is a CDC scientist, and is sent to her hometown of Marais Louisiana to investigate a surfacing sickness that is being named the Green Flu. While there, she meets with her childhood friends Liz and Matt, struggling actor Daniel Cassidy, and biologist Alec Holland. She also meets with her foster parents, Avery and Maria Southerland. These 7 serve as the main characters of the series, and each of them are important. Holland works with Arcane to investigate the Green Flu, but a boating accident led to his supposed death, and eventual transformation into Swamp Thing.
As the show goes on, the writers do an amazing job at worldbuilding. All of the characters become memorable, and the show does a great job at fleshing out itβs cast. Abbyβs character shifts from a strict-rule-following doctor, who mourns the death of her friend that she blames herself for. Alec slowly progresses throughout the stages of grief following his mutation into the monster he has become, before eventually accepting his new role as the champion of the green. Even Daniel Cassidy, who is arguably the least important of the main cast, goes through a lot of character progression as he questions what his purpose is, following his contract with the Phantom Stranger. However, the most dynamic character in this series is none other than Avery Southerland.
Averyβs introduction is one of the best subversions of expectations in a character that Iβve seen in recent years. We first learn that he is the townβs mayor, and that he is responsible for hiring Alec Holland to study the swamp. We also discover that he is the father figure of Abby Arcane, and what seems like the only role model she has left. As the series goe

It's really turned me into the Horror Junkie that I am today, but anyways...I just recently re-watched Evil Dead (the original) for the first time in 12 years thanks to a "Help Me Find This Movie" post I wrote, and now I am sorting out all of the things I remember watching, one of them being Tales From The Dark Side. I remember as a kid feeling pretty scared and freaked out and the show being "Twilight Zone-esq." Even the beginning narration would send chills up my spine. One particular episode that I remember really scaring me was, well, I can't recall the name, but I do know somewhat of what happened: Basically there was this doctor who kept his "daughter" locked up in a door in his closet or under the bed, but she was really this freaky-ass monster thing. Another notable one was (and I THINK this was from the show) this man who sold his soul to the devil. The episode itself didn't really freak me out, it was actually my dad. He looked at me and pointed to "the devil," who was a nicely dressed man in a suit with a red rose. He said, "Hey J***, do you know who that is?" I shook my head and he smirked. "That, that is the devil." Spooked me for weeks.
After reading all of this, does anyone else remember watching this show by chance?
