Question for devs or reps... Closed captioning option on Xbox One?

First of all, thank you for the app. It fills a hole in my daily routine that I didn't know was there. It's wonderful. I'm curious if there's any hope of getting a closed caption caption on the Xbox One app someday?

Closed Captioning on MaxFun shows?

This just came through my feed.

Which made me immediately wonder how other podcasters/networks address this issue. I see Cassie Josephs is on staff at MaxFun as the transcription coordinator.

I know nothing about transcription of podcasts- and it seems like hand transcribing would be difficult AF. Are there automated tools to do this? Is it on a per-request basis? Is *everything* transcribed, or just some portion? When does transcription happen?

I have questions! Educate me maxfun reddit (please).

Air2TV - closed captioning- OTA Broadcast channels - Android

Anyone else using Android along with the Air2TV have issues with closed captioning? This is for the local broadcast channels. Their regular programming is fine.

Any Android device used, the captions either don't display or pop up so quick, you can read them. Used with antenna booster and without. I've rescanned channels, it's always the same.

I tried this with a friend's Roku and they work good. The Fire Stick works badly like Android.

I'm using a NVIDIA shield TV and with Pixel phone... Captions don't work with Android OS.

Live streaming closed captioning woes. Any help / tips greatly appreciated.

Sorry for the essay - I just want to provide some context:

My team handles a live stream once a month for a local government entity and have only started closed captioning that live stream this year. Our first attempt was pre-pandemic and there were a lot of issues getting it working on an ancient state-owned on-premise Wowza server and we basically threw the towel in and instead of embedding the captions we just pushed the stream to YouTube and used the HTTP uplink via a EEG Falcon Account and a captioning agency using iCap. This worked, but the captions were appearing between 30-60 seconds behind and there was no way to delay the stream to sync things back up (the built-in YouTube delay made things significantly worse). We were on an extremely tight timeline the decision was made (with client's full sign-off) that it was "good enough for government work" and we committed to working through those issues before the April session.

Then suddenly everything went remote and the building

Closed Captioning for live stream, with "fixed" text

I have a bit of a unique use case, and not much experience in the area, and would appreciate any guidance you folks may have!

I am coordinating a live streamed theatre show (Shakespeare) and there is a desire to offer closed captioning in the stream. Given the unique language of Shakespeare, I don't want to rely on any of the AI options that are out there, but the performers should follow the script close enough that I can just use that text as pre-made captions for the performance. I know I could burn them in to the video itself (PowerPoint with a lumakey filter is how I've seen it done before), but I don't know of a way to send the embedded 608/708 stream directly.

For reference, I'll likely be streaming content from OBS to YouTube, and have the available labour to have someone dedicated to just closed captioning, if I can find the right system to do it from. I just have no idea what system I would need to use in order to make that happen. Oh, and there's basically no budget for

Closed captioning Los Espookys?

So, I’ve already perused the advice columns and it seems like a number of folx have been having some issues with the HBO Max app on PS4, but I’ve come across something strange...

I’ve been watching Los Espookys, which is primarily in Spanish, but I have some hearing difficulty so I watch things with subtitles and/or closed captioning.

Things were fine with the first episode. I started the second episode, it needed to buffer (seemingly common ps4 problem) so I stopped the episode, then restarted it.

When things get restarted, some of the playback settings never seem to save, so I had to put closed captioning back on.

Only now, the closed captioning is in Spanish.

HBO Max does not have any options for language when you select closed captioning.

Has anybody else run into this? Has anybody else been able to resolve it?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Important Accessibility question regarding the current Zenva Bundle; Closed Captioning

Hello, everyone. I'm deaf so obviously I need captioning. I'm particularly interested in almost all the courses under the "Learning gaming coding and development" Software Bundle by Zenva. I've checked their site and they implied that their content have captioning. However, I've been burnt by such a promise before (Purchased a Cybex Comptia exam prep bundle after their customer support confirmed captions being on all of the relevant materials. News flash, they weren't).

So I'm hoping to see if anybody who have actually purchased this bundle could check and let me know how much of these materials are video based and how much, if any, actually have captions? Please don't only check one video and 'confirm' it. That's how I suspect the sybex customer service agent screwed me over.

Thank you very much!

Zoom Call Closed Captioning?

One of our campers is deaf and I was wondering if any of you would know a good way to include closed captioning on a zoom call? We're a nonprofit and hold camps for kids with disabilities so obviously less costly, but effective options would be great. Any advice would be great, thank you!

BTW: the camp this camper is partaking in is not for deaf campers so we don't have translators to easily employ but I am definitely looking into this option and seeing what I can do!

So I randomly came across a site about assistive technology in theaters, and maybe I'm way behind the times, but I literally had NO idea that theaters would give you a closed captioning device on request! It's like this little box you can attach to your cup holder that shows the subtitles.

All my life I've been going to movies and I've always had problems retaining much of the movie because it takes my mind a few seconds to process what's being said. But at home, watching TV with subtitles on, it's like an instant processing when I'm looking at the actual words.

I wasn't even sure if this was an autistic thing or just a "me" thing, but the site specifically said *"a superior user experience for deaf and hard-of-hearing viewers, as well as ESL-speakers, people with autism,

My favorite part of Season 5 (her introduction to Orphan Olya at the playground). Good for Martha. Closed captioning didn't quite capture the moment.

Improving YTTV’s Closed Captioning

They really need to improve the closed captioning for YouTube TV. Closed Captions at 100% feel too small at times. Then we have 200% and 300%. Yes, they are bigger but they have a problem; overlapping. My parents are deaf and these captions can really be improved on. If anything, they could at least add 150%

We are using YouTube TV through Roku Ultra.

I’m aware those who are in control of YouTube TV may or may not see this, this is just my thought.

OBS Closed Captioning transmits muted mic

So there i was, my stream starting soon screen up. my mic muted. i returning to my seat to see my twitch preview had closed caption boxes up. apparently reacting to sounds from my muted mic (I checked twice) I then spoke into my muted mic (Muted on OBS) and there i see everything i say being displayed on the closed captioning on twitch.

Just a FYI for people that used closed captioning. i will be turning mine off because of this.

Note: This is the captioning found in OBS not the plugin (that i did not know existed till now) sorry for any confusion. also reposting reproduction steps in the OP

1 Tools > caption (experimental) on a side note this got turned on with out me asking.

2 click enable and set audio source to where you mic is. for me that is Mic/aux.

3 mute the audio source in OBS again for me that is Mic/aux.

4 go live on your twitch channel and open up your stream page and turn on the CC button on the bottom of the player.

5 start talking into your mic that is muted i

DAE really enjoy reading the super-specific Closed Captioning descriptions of nonverbal audio?

You know, like [DISTANT SIRENS WHIRRING IN THE STILL OF THE NIGHT] or maybe [TENACIOUS ORCHESTRAL MUSIC PLAYS WHILE HORNS BLAST TRIUMPHANTLY IN THE BACKGROUND] or [SUSPICIOUS THUD] or [RELUCTANT OBOE MELODY] or something. There can be some really fucking great ones sometimes.

Even more closed captioning goodness. I’m not sure if it’s because Keith mumbles or if it’s because the CC is bad, but it’s hilarious nonetheless.

Closed captioning?

I'm trying to use closed captioning from my android to chromecast. Seemingly not giving me this accessibility when I cast, only when I'm streaming on my phone. Any advice?

Sign Language vs Closed Captioning

I recently read Gov. Cuomo from New York is being sued for not having an ASL translator on screen during his daily briefings. Seeing that all his briefings are Closed Captioned, my question is why are both necessary? Doesn’t CC fill the same role?
