Can a mechanic just by listening and feeling the pressure from exhaust tell me that there is no reason to do a valve clearance check/adjustment?

I'm asking because I took my bike to a mechanic that is usually very good, and I'm around the mileage where it should have the check done (15k miles on cbr 1000 rr 2011). When I went there he had a listen and put his hand to the exhaust and said along the lines of trust me there is no reason to check it or do anything with valves, but he do other things like changing oil, air filter and so on. Is this reasonable or not? Obviously I would like to not to pay money for something I don't need, but I also don't want my bike to run into issues

Direct air - All my check valves leak

I've been seeing much better progress using direct air. Recently I lost the aquarium check valve that is required to use the device, TLC-air. I tried the other check valve that came with it, and a bag of check valves I got from Amazon. All of them leak... The first one I was using would hold good pressure for hours. Now I have to go to the bathroom every 30 minutes or one hour depending on the valve and pump it up again. Does anyone know where to get good valves or prevent them from leaking?

Valve, please check. Its unfair.

Hello. So Side Shop was removed and people got rollback (compensation)

  1. Those who recycled immortrals got them back as for new formula 4x = 1x + CM Roll
  2. Those who already crafted things - will have them
  3. People got extra CM rolls

But the problem is that a lot of people like me who started crafting 3 stars 5 grade heroes had not got nothing.

Example:

https://i.imgur.com/ptgek5D.jpg

I have 2 2stars Void (5 grade) + 2 2stars Lich (5 grade) and 2 2stars Gyro (5 grade) - i cycled more than 5 immortral treasures for that and got only 1 back + CM roll.

I wanted to make Arcana / Immortral treasured - so i nearly crafted 9 treasures or at least 3, because 1 5 grade 3 stars = 3 diamonds. But i cant get them anymore - only exchange my heroes for useless red shards to get some useless stuff - while i wasted more than 1k gold for that!

I am sure people like me need some kind of compensation (upgrade our heroes to 3 stars - so we can exchange them for diamonds / or some another stuff)

Sump pump check valve couple leaking

Sump pump in the basement has a plastic check valve that worked fine since we bought the house (three years) then suddenly yesterday turned into a water fountain. Water coming out of both ends of the valve where the rubber slip fernco coupling meets the value, in multiple places around the pipe, every time the pump is run.

I tried loosing and resetting the worm-screw hose bands twice. No matter how tight I make them, water still shoots all over the place. After about 40 lbs of torque i went in quarter turn increments until one broke, at no time were they water fast.

There's about twice the width of the band's worth of plastic under the hose distal to the band on both sides. I meticulously cleaned everything, no debris. The water is definitely coming from the coupling junction space and not the check valve itself. I checked that the drain line wasn't blocked (first with vacuum, then with vacuum pulling dyed water from outside.

What in the heck could be causing this? What should I do, short of rebuilding the entire pump assembly and drain??

Are there any reasonable alternatives to these horrible rubber couplings???

SOLUTION to filling soda stream canisters with a built in check valve from a donor tank, FINALLY!

After watching several videos showing how quick and easy it is and reading every review on amazon all I learned was that you had to β€œturn the gas on VEEERRRRYYY SLOOOOOWWWLY”. And after a few hours of fumbling i still couldn’t get it.

It’s pretty difficult with a tiny ball valve handle, the gauge knob or the donor tank knob.
I couldn’t get the gas to start slow enough without triggering the canister check valve.

Solution: I slid a hollow pipe approx 15” long over the first ball valve handle downstream of the tank (not the pressure relief valve). This gave me leverage to open the flow at a much smoother and slower rate.

I purged the empty, frozen canisters (1 hour in the freezer) and let it fill slowly for about 30 seconds watching the gauge move. If it jumps and stops quickly, you’ve triggered the check valve and need to purge and start over. You’ll be able to hear the liquid flow. When it’s full it will stop flowing.

An empty can weighs 660 grams and filled about 1070. You can use a mail scale to weigh and see how much you’ve transferred. If you don’t get it filled all the way simply use what you’ve put in and fill it when it’s empty, you own the gas.

Tubing and check valve not staying connected

I tried searching and didn't find anything. I've had my 55g up and running for a few weeks. A couple of time, the tubing has come off the check valve and then aater has ended up all over my floor. I had a 29g for 4 years and never had this problem with the Tetra Whisper air pump and tubing/check valve. I purchased it all from petsmart. The newer stuff I bought from Petco. It's the Imagitarium brand (I think that's the name) and the tubing definitely seems flimsier. If I buy tubing and a check valve would that solve it? If not, what do I do?

Residential Wastewater Backflow check valve

My daughter just bought a house in Maryland in the WSSC service area. Two-story Colonial with basement. She's had two backups from the Sewer Lateral into shower and toilet in the basement. WSSC claims it's not their problem because the sewer line is flowing (non rainy measurement). They said she may need a residential Wastewater backflow check valve. Anybody have any thoughts on that?

Should it be at the curb in a pit ($ 15K) or into the concrete floor in the basement?

Any brands to avoid?

Any common issues to watch out for?

Any easier fixes like a sump ejector for the basement bathroom?

And I think she's going to look into the latent defect issue but that's not a plumbing question.

Not sure if check valve is working properly

I have a quartz tube with flange valves on each end. This is the check valve on the left side https://ibb.co/p3BXJtT

And this is the valve on the right side https://ibb.co/xYZzsRh

I used a pump to create a partial vacuum in the tube, as you can see from the pressure guage. What confuses me is that air does not come in through the check valve, I thought it would since the atmospheric pressure outside must be enough to overpower the spring in the check valve and the pressure inside the tube is low. I did manage to pump water through the check valve into the tube before, so I know that it can flow in that direction. Am I misunderstanding how check valves work or is this one not working properly? Please let me know if you need more information.

Check Valve Tee needed

I discovered the actual name for the plastic connector that connects multiple windshield washer hoses and the washer together, and on the driver's side that is the Check Valve T (tee). I see this going for $5.99 on Amazon and another genuine Volvo version for $13.24.

In my case, the cap popped off, so that's all I need. This is a cheap piece for my 2013 C30. can I just 3D print my own cap, or even my own piece for a snugger fit overall, or is it better just to buy the part? I figure if I make my own part I can make extensions to help secure the hoses closer to the windshield or at least out of the way.

Edit: I'll probably just buy one for now. I have an Auto Zone gift card, and if they don't have it there's a Pep Boys down the road. I thought of 3D printing it, but am new to connections and not sure my design would cause damage without the popper being removable.

Edit 2: Auto Zone has the Dorman 47328, an assortment of vacuum T lines, for under $6. It took a bit of wiggling but the hoses are all together and the windshield washer works great. This is far cheaper than the entire kit they sell for almost $30.

I myself used 9 blue gems and got 8 treasures I and 1 treasure II.

If we could at least know the odds of getting the treasures II/III from both sideshop/benefactor because I would choose the higher chance even if it was the benefactor costing 2 blue gems.

The hurricane today has reminded me as I had to plug up my sewage filled toilet to stop the flooding. Yuch. SO: my question is, everything I read says "clean the valve once a year" how are you supposed to do that when it's buried 3' down? Also, would it be better to put in just an actual valve you close from the surface? Thanks in advance - it's regular 4" pvc btw.

Check Valve / Inconsistent Pressure

We recently replaced all of our sprinkler heads as they were not rotating. Everything was working perfectly for about 3 weeks and then they just stopped working. We called someone out to look at things and they determined that the pump had been worn and needed fixed or replaced. While he was there he checked all of the pipes for leaks and replaced a few for safe measure. He also said the check valve was not needed and removed it completely. We then got a new pump and had it installed. Now, the sprinklers pop up, but the pressure is very inconsistent. It will be up for about 30-45 seconds and then back at zero for 30-45 seconds. We have primed, tightened, let run... No luck, it keeps happening. I know it's his job and he should know what he's doing... But could this problem be due to lack of check valve? If not, any other suggestions??

Using +5V Logic To Control A +24V Line Using A Transistor Like A Cutoff Valve (Just Doing A Double Check)

https://preview.redd.it/alwot6hyyme51.jpg?width=2047&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=148869bc4874cc0f04d497425fafe1bc80cc11bc

So I just need a quick confirmation double check because this seems a bit weird. But I'm trying to find the simplest way to control the flow of a +24V signal line with +5V logic. I thought I could just use a transistor like a cutoff valve; transistor goes on, bridges the gap, +24V flows. Boom. But whether I use an NPN or PNP, I can't seem to get the simulator to show +24V on both sides of the transistor. So I don't know if I'm missing something or if the simulator isn't showing the right voltage.

I'm running out of real estate on the board for the rest of this project, and I'm trying to add a new feature to it with the smallest footprint and part count possible. Otherwise I'd honestly just use a submini relay. But I know this will work because I've done this before with something a couple years back to switch ONLY the higher voltage logic lines with +5V logic (without needing to run the +24VDC and GND power lines through as well). I just don't know what I'm missing this time.

If someone could just do a quick double check or bounce an idea or two off, that'd be a huge help and I'd really appreciate it. Because if this is all I need to get this feature going I'm gold.

If you purchased a Valve Index and is a fan of Valve or Portal, check out the 'Aperture Hand Lab' on Steam

Its a short VR experience set in the Portal universe, that also serves as a tech demo for the hand tracking of the Valve knuckles controllers.
