Thoughts on Borage
Recently Iβve been really drawn to the borage plant. Borrago officinale, aka Borage is a cooling, demulcent herb that is good for clearing heat and inflammation in the body. Historically, it has been used for conditions such as sore and inflamed eyes, colds, dry coughs, nervous exhaustion, menopausal hot flashes and more. Aside from its medicinal actions, it also contains an energetic essence that can help give us courage when facing life's challenges and lift our spirits when our hearts feel heavy. It is important to note that Borage contains pyrrolizidine alkaloids that have demonstrated hepatotoxicity in large doses so make sure not to overdo it when working with the physical plant. However, if you decide to work with Borage flower essence to address your emotional body you do not have to worry about toxicity. Flower essences only contain the energetic imprint of the plant and not the physical plant matter.
I recently taught a class on how to use flower essences with animals and one of my students shared that she is an end of life doula for horses. Borage flower essence came up in the discussion as an essence that could provide support for not only the horse that was soon to pass, but also for the other horses in the herd that would be grieving the loss of their companion. After learning this, my student shared that she noticed the horses had been recently feeding on the wild borage in their pasture. I find it pretty amazing that animals intuitively know which plants have the medicine that they need. Humans have this ability too if we take a moment to be still and listen.
Does anyone else have experience working with this plant?

Borage Oil
Iβve heard of some folk applying borage oil typically directly to their faces, apparently itβs high GLA content makes it ideal, very anti-inflammatory. Iβve been taking individual pills of them so far but no results. Wondering if anyone has been using them, how and if itβs gotten results for you, how long did it take?

Borage oil seems to have truly helped
Tried many things for AD, has been moderate to severe in my life and made me sooo depressed many times. Started borage oil capsules about a month ago and my skin has been mostly clear since. I still get eczema but it has changed somehow and it is much easier to manage. There is some conflicting science but borage oil is higher in GLA than evening primrose. My experience with it so far has been awesome, I'm not suicidal anymore i feel normal it's great. I barely make posts but this has impacted me enough that i thought you fine peeps might want to hear about it. Hang in there you are all so strong
